The striker joins the North London outfit following a season in which he scored 37 goals in all competitions.

Transfer Saga

The Gunners previously attempted to sign Lacazette before the start of last season, and also had a bid rejected by the Ligue 1 club in the last few weeks. However, after receiving an acceptable bid, Lyon President Jean-Michel Aulas finally confirmed on Monday that Lacazette was set to join Arsenal in the next 48 Hours. This was followed on Tuesday by news that the former Lyon man had completed a medical ahead of a move to the Emirates Stadium.

It is understood that the reported transfer fee could rise with various add-ons, making a collective price tag that virtually guarantees Lacazette a place in the starting XI.

World-Class Striker

Ever since the departure of Thierry Henry back in 2007, Arsenal fans have been crying out for a genuine “world-class striker”. Lacazette arrives with a reputation for scoring goals, but now he has to prove he can adapt to life in the Premier League.

The arrival of Lacazette may have fans concerned about more than the France International’s own abilities, with Olivier Giroud now looking increasingly more likely to seek an exit from North London.

Strong Character

Upon sealing the signing, Arsenal Manager Arsène Wenger said: “We are very happy to have Alexandre join our group. He has shown over a number of years that he can score goals and that he is a very efficient finisher”. In addition, Wenger added that his new record signing is “a strong character”.
